How do I combine the protected check box option and the ability t.

I am working on a survey and would like to combine the following options: The
ability to use the check box options on forms and also give the participants
the option to include comments. However, to utilize teh check box option
means I have to protect the document and the participants will not be able to
add comments.

If you insert text form fields, your respondents will be able to type
freeform text. Alternatively, if you want a section that permits more
latitude even than a text form field, you can insert section breaks and
protect only specific sections of the form.

It sounds as if you don't have much experience with forms. You might want to
read the series of tutorials by Dian Chapman that are linked from
