how do I change the speed that an image swaps in front page

I need to slow down the image when it changes please can someone help

You probably can't (not at least with FP or traditional JavaScript swaps).

You could, if they were GIFs make an animated GIF of the swap image that
starts in one state and morphs to the end state and then set it to play once
on display.

DHTML might also be able to do that, but that's not built into FP you will
have to find and use a script from somewhere.
