I have just changed e-mails to use Outlook Express. However, when I received
my first e-mail the date and time stamp in the received column is wrong. Is
there a way to change this?
Make sure you time AND you time zone is correct.
Emails are sent with Universal time (or at least with
local time plus the Universal, aka GMT offset for the
local time) so that they can be consistently interpreted,
no matter where in the world they arrive.
Also note, that your server may be involved in setting
the received time. (Not 100% sure about this interaction.)
Is a mail received when you server places it into your
Inbox (POP account etc.) or when you receive it in the
email client?
What about web based email viewers?
So received time may vary depending on your point of view,
but the most common mistake is setting the time zone incorrectly.
(Or at least the mistake that is hardest to troubleshoot.)
