How do I change the PC's name?

How do I change the PC'S name? I have USB transfer cable which I have
been lent so that I can copy some files from one machine to another. I
have the software on both machine & selected unicode. But nothing
happens because both the right & left panels on screen have exactly the
same data. I suspect that this might be because both machines have been
given the same name. I could use a thumb drive to copy & paste files
but thes files are very large & the cable connections should be better
option.

Hold down the windows key and hit the pause/break key. Then select the
computer name tab.

Hold down the windows key and hit the pause/break key. Then select the
computer name tab.

It now seems that the problem isn't just the PC's name because I have
changed it & both the right & left panels are identical. Both the
adapter itself as well as the software disk says USB2 host to host LINK
ADAPTER on them. Does that give any clue as to what's the problem?
