How do I change the normal template

The normal template as been corrupted and I need to turn it back to a
blank,but it is locked and i cannot write to it

You need to do this with Word closed. See

If you can rename Normal.dot to Normal.old or something like that, go ahead
and do so, then restart your computer. A new Normal.dot will be created.
