I work in the UK and use Powerpoint but the date format in headers and
footers show as mm/dd/yyyy. Can Microsoft Office be configured so that it
takes the correct format from the country setting which apply in Control
Panel?

Control Panel\Regional and Language Options\Regional Options\Advanced

Not an Outlook issue... try posting in a PowerPoint group.
