How do I change the alias after the name such as <JDoe>?

Exchange 2003, Outlook 2002.

Our office uses first initial last name for email addresses. We have two
people named Sue at my office, Sue Brown (SBrown) and Sue Jones (SJones).
Sue Jones got married and now her name is Sue Smith (SSmith). I did a rename
in Active Directory and created a new primary email address of SSmith,
leaving SJones as another available email address. I also went into the
Exchange General tab in ADUC and changed the Alias from SJones to SSmith.
When I type Sue in the To:... field, I get the following options in a drop
down menu:

Sue Brown <SBrown>
Sue Smith <SJones>

How do I get the <SSmith> after Sue Jones to change to <SSmith>?

I messed up the last line of my question, and could not find an edit option.
It should read:

How do I get the <SJones> after Sue Smith to change to <SSmith>?

You simply have to highlight and delete the incorrect autocomplete entry.
It'll pick up on the new alias after you type it a time or two.

I have tried that multiple times on multiple accounts on multiple
workstations and it does not work. Also, we have people here who started
after her name change and it shows up as Sue Smith <SJones> the first time
(and every time after) they type it in. Same goes for people who had
accounts before the name change but never sent her an email before.
