How do I change margins from "points" to "inches"?

I have a "new" version of Word and it has the page margins in points instead
of inches. I have been unable to find any way to change this.

First try to change the unit of measurement on the General tab of
Tools>Options. If that doesn't work, most likely you are seeing
character units rather than points. See
http://www.gmayor.com/Character_Units.htm for a way to fix this.
