how do i change how email senders names are displayed on receipt

I want to change the way email senders names are shown in the 'from' box when
they arrive. For example... if an email address is (e-mail address removed) but
I want this displayed not as 'John Smith' but as 'Amy' how do I do this? I
will be grateful to the answer to this.

Under" User Information" type Amy into the name field.

Hi Dave, thanks for getting back to me... I'm a little confused...
Outlook-Tools this then takes me to a drop down list ... rules & alerts,
email accounts, customize, optiona plus quite a few others but there is no
'services'. I'm using Outlook 2003 if that makes any difference.
Have you or anyone else any ideas?

Thanks I've seen that web page but as far as I can see (unless I'm being
really thick??!!) this only relates to the way others see me when I am
emailing them NOT vice versa??!! Any more ideas will be gratefully received!

Hi Julia,
The way you see others is out of your control.
You see them as they have set it on their system and you cannot change this.
( There is no need to see your doctor! )
