I receive a PDf attached to an email. I need to make changes to it. I don't
know how to save it as a document readable by Microsoft Office Word.

Copy/paste from the PDF to a blank Word document generally works, but the
results often are unsatisfactory, especially when there are columns
involved. Formatting often does not translate well.. There are PDF editors
(none that are free that I'm aware), such as Adobe Acrobat Professional.
But, the best solution would probably be to get your correspondent to send
you an editable version of the document.

Word has no facility for importing PDF files. That's the whole point of PDF,
to create a transportable version of a document that is not readily
editable. The best you would be able to achieve (and that rather depends on
how the PDF document was created) would be to convert the PDF to a Word
document and that requires third party software - ideally the full version
of Acrobat - however see http://www.gmayor.com/pdf_to_word.htm
