How do I cancel an operation that I am waiting for? I have Windows
XP Pro with S.P.2. I'll clarify this. When I choose an operation, I get
an hourglass instead of my (mouse) pointer. I cannot use anything in
the meantime. When the time drags on for a while I'll just want to
cancel out of the operation (and try again). [I cannot even use "stop"
on my browser because I do not have a pointer - only the hourglass.]

How do I get the pointer back?

Thank you,

Barry Karas

P.S. Sometimes I get the mouse pointer superimposed on top of the
hourglass. This seems to be like the hourglass alone because nothing
works.

P.P.S. Nothing happens when I use [Alt. + F4].

Barry, Ctrl, Alt, Del will give you Taskbar>Processes. Select Apps and the
app you want
to close>end tasks.

As Rich said *CTRL + ALT + DEL will show you the App which not responding
to the CPU Call.
But be sure your computer is clean from Malware/Viruses and you have enough
Disk Space and RAM installed to be able to access your Apps Quicker.
If you have AVs that want to Update on the start up try to confogure it to a
time later when suite you so.

I forgot to write that <alt-ctrtl-del> doesn't do anything on that
operation.

That is a good idea but...

Many applications/programs do not have file names that relate to what the
apps/pgms actually do. I realize I can choose an ".exe" but it's what comes
before that is important here.
