how do I back up Microsoft Outlook data file?

Hi,

I am having trouble to back up the outlook data file (.pst). I used Nero
Express to copy the file onto the DVD rom. But when I test it, I first copy
into the desktop and make sure it's not read only, then open it with
outlook, but the error message pops up and say "The file doesn't look like a
outlook data file".

I did make sure that outlook program was closed before I did the backup, but
it still doesn't work. Why is that? Is there a special way to backup the
file? Thanks in advance.
