How do I avoid deleting of a message from Incoming after replying?

As originally installed, Outlook 2000 would keep an email message in the
Incoming list even after I replied to it. The message would get a notation
"Replied to on - - etc. with a notation 'click here to see all related
messages" when I forwarded or sent a repy message. Suddenly and without
warning, Outlook started deleting messages from the Incoming list as soon as
I sent a reply. The deleted messages do not appear in the Deleted Items list.
I tried going through all of the Tools/Preferences/Email options/Advanced
Email options suggestions in "Help" but couldn't find anything that woudl
correct the problem.

What do I need to do to get back where I was, i.e. with the message retained
in Incoming until I delete it manually?

Might you have accidentally change the sort order of your Inbox to use the
icon column? I've seen this happen before.

Thanks for your quick response, Vince. If I did this accidenatlly, I don't
know how I did it. How would I change it back to where it should be, that is
how do I get to the Inbox sort order to change it back?

Probably not. Click View>Current View and make sure "Messages" and not
"Unread Messages" is selected.

Click on the date column header or other column header to sort by that
column

This exact problem just began to happen to me. For me at least, it has
nothing to do with the sort order in the Inbox. The originial message with
my reply is in the Sent folder but it is gone from the inbox as you
described. Did anyone have an answer for you?
