How do I arrange text list alphabetically in Word?

I am compiling a list of names in Word but would like to arrange them
alphabetically instead of manually.

Create a single row table with as many columns as you need. When you fill in
the first cell, tab to the next. When you tab out of the last cell the next
row will automatically be created. When you are done entering data, place
cursor in the column you wish to sort by and click TABLE|SORT. The next
window should be self-explanatory. Hope this helps.

Text does not need to be in a table to be sorted. Sort is on the Table menu,
but it works on paragraph text as well.
