How do I archive sent items?

When I auto archive in Outlook the only items picked up are the items
received. How can I archive the sent items also? It appears that the
archive is only triggered by the received date and there is no received date
on these items.
 
Manually archive them. Click on the folder, then use File->Archive to set
your archiving parameters.
