One way is to draw curly brackets to the left and right of a paragraph
by displaying the Drawing toolbar (View | Toolbars | Drawing), clicking
on Autoshapes, clicking on the curly bracket autoshape, and dragging
next to the paragraph to draw the bracket. Then right-click on the
bracket, left-click on Format AutoShape | Layout, and choose the desired
text wrapping style for the bracket.

Another way is to create an equation object by clicking on Insert |
Object | Microsoft Equation, choose the square or curly bracket style
from the Fence Templates gallery, choose Text in the equation Style
menu, and type or paste the paragraph into the equation box. You cannot
have more than 255 characters in the equation box, and you'll have to
manually break the paragraph into lines by pressing Enter where you want
a line break.
Curly will do thanks, but square would be OK too, thanks

And note that "round bracket" = parentheses.

Just to be pedantic "round bracket" = parenthes*i*s <gd&r>

As I understand it, in US usage "bracket" means square bracket and
parenhesis means round bracket. In UK usage, parenthesis is often used and
would certainly be understood but the term bracket would most likely be
taken to mean parenthesis (the term round bracket is not often heard) and
"square" would need specifically stating if square brackets were intended.
On both sides of the pond the terms curly brackets and braces seem pretty
much interchangeable. To complicate things "bracketing things together"
would imply a single (normally right) brace.

My understanding, of course, could well be wrong; it wouldn't be the first
time.

You're absolutely right, of course; I meant to write either "round brackets"
or "parenthesis."

To recap:

( ) parentheses or round brackets

[ ] brackets or square brackets

{ } braces or curly brackets
