how do i append old and new data in excel

I have a spread sheet with a different colour fill in each cell.
I also have another spreadsheet with the same data but no colour fill
I want to import the second spreadsheet with refreshed data but copy the
colour fills from original data set.
The data contained in the 2 spreadsheets are order numbers so most of the
original data will be the same.
 
Sounds like you need to use the format painter. After you import the
refreshed data, select the original data and click the format painter button
(looks like a paint brush). Then click on the imported data, and the colours
will be pasted, along with any other formatting.

Once you get used to the procedure, it's good to know that a single click on
the paint brush allows you to paste once, and a double click on the paint
brush allows you to paste multiple times.
