Which version is this? If it's Word 2007, do this: Select the text you want
to turn into an AutoText entry. Click the Insert tab on the ribbon. In the
Text group, click Quick Parts, and then click Save Selection to Quick Part
Gallery. Type a name for the AutoText. For "Gallery," choose "AutoText."
Then click OK. If/when you are prompted to save the Building Blocks
template, choose to do so.

Later, when you want to insert the AutoText, type its name and then press
F3.

Note that if you do use the AutoText gallery the only way to insert the
entry is to use the keyboard method, (i.e. type the first unique characters,
and press F3), unless you add the AutoText gallery to your Quick Access
Toolbar. If you add the entry to your Quick Parts Gallery then you can
insert it either using the keyboard or by clicking Quick Parts and then
clicking your entry which can provide you with a little more flexibility.
