Thank you for that quick response. I just bought a refurbished Sony machine.
Vendor claims that Sony does not provide the CDs for their refurbished
computers. Is that normal? If so, what happens then?

The OEM (Sony) should provide a method of restoring device to as shipped
from the factory - IF you have purchased the PC with an opertaing system.
They should have supplied a certificate of authenticity as well.

To add to what Mike said, many OEMs have determined their customers do
not need these optional files.
Contact Sony for details.

Thank you. I did receive Windows XP certificate and also created a series of
restoration discs when I first started the machine. But I don't have the XP
disc. Is it possible to install Netbeui from those discs?

You would have to check Sony.
The may not have provided the files.
My guess is Sony did not.

.
Don't know, you shouldn't need to as it is not presented
as an option in XP, but I have never had a problem like
in earlier systems when you needed it installed to view
other systems on the LAN
