How do I add accents to a name

I want to add an accent to an e in a french name and it won't let me

I have tried to type the name in word and copy and paste but when i close
the datebase down and go back in the accents are gone

Please help

You can copy and paste the character from chrmap.exe
Look in Start + All Programs + Accessories.

The è (e grave) can also be entered by typing
Alt + 0232 (using the number keypad)
The é (e acute) can also be entered by typing
Alt + 0233 (using the number keypad)
