I have typed a fair amount of text into Word but now think that I chose
too large a size. I know I can change new blocks, but what about
resizing an old block?

Select the text and apply the desired size from the Font Size list or type
it into the box and press Enter.

You can also reduce the size by one font size at a time by selecting the text
and pressing Ctrl+[ (Ctrl+] to increase). This is useful if you have e.g
larger headings and want to keep the font size in proportion.
