How can you restore a file that was deleted by a save as override.

My son was working on a project in Microsoft word and accidentally hit save
as instead of save and chose to override his earlier version with a blank
page. Is there a way to retrieve the old project? I've tried the versions
link under the file menu, but I don't get previous versions? Any ideas.

Unless you have some sort of delete protection software running, such as the
Undelete software by Norton or Executive Software, you're only other option
at this point would be a backup of the file. You'll need to restore from
your backup that you created using your backup software or from a copy that
you may have had somewhere else, such as on a floppy.

It's too late now but I always do my save with an override as soon as
I open files. I never ever depend on remembering later to do this.
