How can original received date be retained when moving an email?

I am trying to archive received and sent messages from inbox and sent items
folders to other folders and the received or sent date is always altered to
current date/time. I desire to retain the original received or sent date.

What method are you using to move the items?

I highlight the message I desire to move and then select the Move to folder
option, then click on the folder where I want the message. The received date
is always altered, normally to the current date/time, but sometimes to a
differnet date.

What version of Outlook are you using and do you have all the updates for it?
