how can i use the second floppy device if the bios only have one option.

we must build a new mainboard in a computer we need to make spezial disk for
very old cnc maschines. so we need a 5,25" foppy device and we need a 3,5"
floppy too. the new mainboard bios only alows one floppy.

how can i install a second floppy in windows?

You can't, in order to have 2 floppy drives installed, the motherboard must
support 2 drives, if it doesn't support 2, you can't install 2.
If the board supports, 5.25 drives, you could install that in the PC and
then purchase a USB 3.5 floppy drive.

Has nothing to do with Windows, you could load Linux on the system and it
wouldn't be able to use 2 floppies either.
Your motherboard doesn't have the hardware to support 2 floppy drives, so if
you can't plug in and configure the drive parameters, how can you expect
Windows to be able to use it? Windows knows the drive is there because the
motherboard BIOS says it's there, if it can't report a second drive, Windows
cannot configure the second drive.

Just curious.

Couldn't he just get a separate Floppy Controller with its own BIOS and
disable the floppy controller on the motherboard?? Wouldn't that work??

Have you seen one of those lately?

He could get a USB floppy drive, disconnect his internal 3.5 floppy drive
and use a 5.25 floppy drive in it's stead.
