How can I use formatting when using 2003 outlook and 2002 word

I have installed Outlook 2003 and use Word 2002, this is not backward
compatible for format painter etc, is there any sort of configuration I can
set to let this happen?

Nope. Versions of Word and Outlook must match in order for them to
work together.
