How can I use Excel 2003 together with Excel 2007 trial version?

I installed trial version of Excel 2007 yesterday (because I needed Access
for another project). When I opened an existing Excel document it opened in
2007 but many functionalities are deactivated, meaning my entire inventory of
Excel workbooks are dead (?) MSFT says buy 2007. I am not ready after 24 hrs.
How do I open existing xl sheets in 2003 version?

Start Excel 2003, and then use the File->Open dialog to open your
spreadsheet file.

When you installed the Office 2007 trial version, you were given the
option to either keep your existing Office version alongside the trial
version, or to replace the existing Office version with the trial
version. If you chose to replace the existing Office version, then
you'll need to reinstall the existing version from your Office CD.

Thanks, Garfield - much appreciated! Here's the weird part: I was not given the option to keep or replace Excel 2003, at least 99.99% sure. I had Publisher 2003 - its' gone, only 2007 left, Same for Word. Never did have Access and Powerpoint - now I have both 03 and 07 of each.
Weirder yet - as of a few hours ago all functionalities of Excel 2007 are
disabled because "Your trial period is up. Buy the licence! Any explanation?

Garfield,

One more questions - can I just uninstall the trial version of 2007, without
any remnants or ill effects? As you can imagine the experience of the last 24
hrs has shook me to the bone. My entire business depends on those excell
spread sheets.

Then you shouldn't be fooling around with Trial Versions of anything with
live data on a production machine in the first place. Forgive the temerity,
but using live data and trial software of any sort on a production machine
is just plain negligent. If nothing else, use copies of your real workbooks,
and if you don't already, get in the habit of daily backups of important
data. (I back up important files to (1) a second hard drive, (2) a DVDRW,
and (3) zipped and encrypted to a network location.) And yes, installation
does give you the option of keeping some or all existing versions of Office
programs with the exception of Outlook -- you can have only one version of
Outlook installed on a machine. You must change the installation folder for
2007 when you install it. By default, it goes into the 2003 folder which can
cause problems.

I have Office 97 Pro through Office 2007 Ultimate on the same machine with
no problems.

Uninstall 2007, re-install 2003, then install 2007 again.
