How can I stop ie6 from switching to newly opened web page?

When I open a link in a new window I want to stay on the current web page I'm
browsing instead of it switching to the new window after it is done loading.
Is there a preference setting for this?

to open a link on IE just right click on the link and go

to open in new window. You will have the current open and
the linked page.
 
Uncheck the option "reuse windows for launching short cuts" under the
advanced tab in IE.
