How can I set Expanded Memory in XP

I created a MS-DOS short cut using command.com. The properties has a Memory
tab where I can set the EMS memory. When I open a DOS window and type the
mem command I only see XMS and conventional memory.

You would need to set it to something other than Auto or None.

Nope didn't work.

When I execute the mem command in the dos window only XMS memory is
available no EMS. No matter the amount set.

Then I would have to guess that the config.nt file has been edited.

tried
EMM A=8 B=0x4000 3072

and

EMM = 8 0x4000 3072
