My neice sent us family pictures in a powerpoint presentation. How can I save
them to my computer outside of the program? I would like to adjust them in
another program, and print them.

Although you can extract pictures of the slides, or even the pictures
themselves, they will not give you the best print quality. I would recommend
that you ask your niece to send you the image files she used in the
presentation.

If you have MS Photo Editor, you can do this:

Start PPT
Click the photo you want and choose Edit, Copy
Switch to MS PhotoEditor
Choose Edit, Paste as New (or similar working)
Save as PNG

Try saving the PowerPoint as HTML. You will get a folder with graphics and
HTML files.

If I'm not mistaken, for each graphic in your presentation, you will get the
originally inserted graphic file at its native resolution, plus, if you have
modified the size of the graphic in PowerPoint, you will get a poor quality
JPG version of the resized graphic.
