How can I retrieve old email records after hard drive crash?

Recently had hard drive begin to fail - installed as a backup drive and put
in new primary hard drive. Now am re-establishing email, and cannot retrieve
old email records. Use a POP3 account, not server, and am wondering what
avenues are available to access old emails from inbox and files (.pst files?).

Also wanting to copy contacts file to another user to keep from retyping
hundreds of addresses.

You can try opening the old PST file with the File menu > Open > Outlook
Data File then copying the items from the old PST to the new one
