How can I restore my word to default settings?

MY XP word is formatted to do some funky things. Everytime I try to start a
document and then press enter the curser automatically goes to the bottom of
the page. Then if I press enter again the cursor goes up the page in
different increments. Please help I have to type a lot of documents and
don't have a clue as to how to fix this problem.

In a new Blank Document, without making any other changes, on the Layout tab
of Page Setup, change the vertical alignment from Bottom (or Justified) to
Top. Then click Default...

Go to File/Page Setup and on the Layout tab change the Vertical
alignment to Top instead of Justified. Then click the "Default"
command to make this the default for new documents.
