Unless your system came with System Recovery CDs, you will not get it back
to exactly as when it was purchased. If the system came with an OEM Windows
XP CD, and CD's for the software bundle and drivers: You can boot with the
Windows XP CD, and when it finds a previous version of Windows XP, opt NOT
to repair, and format and do a new install. After Windows XP is installed,
then install the software and drivers (if needed) from the other CDs.
If your system did not come with a Windows XP CD, and Software/drivers CDs,
but DID come with System Recovery CDs: Boot from the first System Recovery
CD and follow the directions. Before doing any of the above, make sure that
you copy any of your data files that you wouldn't want to lose (Favorites,
Address Book, Outlook Express *.dbx files, Images, Documents, etc.) to
removable media, because the hard drive will be wiped clean, and they will
be lost.
