How can I restore my autocomplete address list

I started to respond to e-mails this morning but the autocomplete prompt is
not working. It appears that none of previous contact prompts remain. If I
add a name by responding to an e-mail, the autocomplete prompt includes that
name but does not include any of the other names that were there yesterday
before I turned off my computer. Do I have to completely reconstruct my
autocomplete list?
