In PPT 2007, you can use Drawing Tools Format | Edit Shape | Convert to
Freeform. No need to remove text.
Earlier versions of PPT don't have this option, but you can copy or cut the
shape (doesn't matter if the text is there or not), then Edit | Paste
Special and choose Windows Metafile (WMF). Then Ungroup on the Drawing
toolbar. You may need to ungroup twice. Now you can use edit points.
