How can I remove inscriptions below icons on desktop?
Is it posiible without using additional applications?

right click on icon ...choose rename and change/delete the description

Did you try it?
Unfortunatley it's impossible, there must be at least one letter.
 
Someone may know of a registry hack, but you could try
substituting the text for an unobtrusive comma or hyphen.

Just a quick thought. You could change the text to the same color as your
desktop. This wouldn't remove it, but you wouldn't have to look at it.

You can't do that. The desktop icons always take a contrasting colour to the desktop background to stop people from doing this.

Right click the icon in question, choose Rename, hold down the ALT key and
type 0160 from the keypad.
Just a quick thought. You could change the text to the same color as your
desktop. This wouldn't remove it, but you wouldn't have to look at it.

Nope!

By default in XP, it can't be manually changed. The text changes on its own
from dark to light depending on the color of the background. It is based on
the Desktop color not the Wallpaper. The combo is whether or not you are
using a Wallpaper and what the Desktop color is.
