How can I reinstall IE 6 after installing win XP SP2

Hi all
I want to reinstall Internet explorer and Outlook express
I had problems with OE
I did it before installing SP2 and it's work
But now I got message said that the current version is newer than the one I
trying to install
Any help will be appreciated

so once youve installed sp2, and if u want to repair ie, u have to repair all
of sp2? is there any way you can just repair ie? that webpage u gave a link
to only gives you a registy modification for xp sp1, what's the registry
modification i need to make to repair ie under sp2? thx. dAVE

Case 1: If you've installed a Service Pack (1 or 2) after you installed
Windows XP, mention the path as follows:

C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386

Case 2: If you have a Windows XP Operating System CD integrated with the
latest Service Pack, simply point to the following path:

X:\i386

Where X:\ is the CD-ROM drive-letter.

If it makes any difference, I've not been able to reinstall IE 6 on
compromised machines that have been cleaned, even with MS support on the
phone instructing me on what to do. I've had this happen at least 4
times in the last 6 months, where all the instructions failed to allow
it to reinstall, and where MS senior support techs recommended that I
just wipe/reinstall Windows XP. (not my machines, these were machines in
the wild that were brought to us for cleaning).

Sorry, it's been more than a month since I had to deal with it. There
were soooo many issues that I can't list specific ones any more and I
didn't take notes at the time.

I tried everything I could find on the web, all the MS articles,
everything except a repair/reinstall - since the machine had been
compromised I opted for a wipe/reinstall.

No problem. Generally, the IE.INF method works fine, not sure why it did not
work in your system.

Yea, I don't know either and none of the others worked so, I don't
really have a clue myself.

We had a couple machines come in compromised, removed about 30 odd
viruses off each of them. The remaining symptom was that IE would not
process any website button clicks, the Windows Update page was blank,
etc... I tried for 3 days to fix it (about 16 hours) and finally called
MS, they tried for another couple hours and that was all I had time for
- we wiped the machines and charged each 1.5 hours, we ate the rest
under a learning experience category
