How can I put program icons into the system tray/taskbar (in the area near
the clock and audio icons)?
The systray (notification area, as it is now called) requires
programming, but you can easily put program icons on the left
side, into the quickstart area of the task bar. Just drag and
drop them next to the Start button.
These are user-dependent, i.e. an icon you put there is not
visible when somebody else logs on to the computer.
This only works when enabled. To check this, right-click on the
Start button, select Properties, click on the Task bar tab at
the top, then make sure the fifth of the upper five check boxes
is checked, enabling the quick start bar.
