First, you shouldn't space twice after a period, but you could use the
"nonbreaking space" character on Insert > Symbol > Special Characters
(or: Ctrl-Shift-Space).
Also, make sure that the Compatibility Option to "Wrap trailing spaces to
the next line" isn't checked.
