How can I move *.pst files off to a CD-rom?

Every angle I try this from I'm blocked with messages like "invalid file
name" or "windows encountered a problem when trying to copy this file" but no
details are available. We are trying to gather all information regarding a
contract, plant it on a CD with various Word and Excel documents then file it
in a physical file. Any ideas?
 
One quick try would be to make sure no one is accessing that PST file.
Anyone who is make sure they close Outlook and try backing it up about 5-10
minutes later. Last time I had my boss's PST file open, I closed it, called
him to know I was done and he still couldn't get in it because of a sharing
violation, so it took a couple minutes.
