I been trying to set up my computer from windows Xp back to windows
2000. When I insert the windows 2000 cd the computer disables the
intall button since I got an older version of windows. I leaving the
2000 cd in when restarting so the pc can boot from cd, but it wont
start from cd. I do not have a boot floppy disk...

How can I make my computer go from windows Xp to windows 2000? Or how
can a just reformat and do a clean install of 2000?

I'd usually point you to http://www.bootdisk.com/ - but I seem to be having
trouble getting there.. Try there anyway - could be my route to it is down.

You can also get a Windows 2000 boot diskette from here:

Go into your BIOS screens to add the CD/DVD drives as a boot device,
like floppy, CD-ROM, hard drive (and don't put a floppy into the A:
drive). Then boot using the Windows 2000 install CD (it is bootable).
You can then use it to delete, create, or format partitions.

The normal way to "uninstall" any operating system is to format the
hard drive and install a new OS of your choice.

There is no "rollback" to Win2K. To replace WinXP with an earlier
OS, you'll have to boot from the appropriate boot disk, format the hard
drive, and install. There is no supported downgrade path or technique.

Simply boot from the Win2K installation CD. You'll be offered the
opportunity to delete, create, and/or format the system partition as
part of the installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the order
of boot devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)
