How can I make links clickable in my protected Word document?

I am creating a form in a word document, and I am including some instructions
text that has a few links to other resources. When I lock/protect the
document (so that users can only edit the form fields) the links become
unclickable. Is there a setting I can change so that users can click on the
links?
