How can I make a "Protect/Unprotect Document" toggle link?

Is there a way to create a hyperlink or 'button' in a form document that will
enable users to toggle protect/unprotect with one click rather than having to
invoke the "tools\protect document" dialog?

I'm using form checkboxes in a checklist document but the checklist often
needs to be changed, or to have things typed into it. Users are therefore
finding that having to negotiate the protect/unprotect dialogs, is clumsy.

There's a toggle button on the Forms toolbar. It could be added to any other
toolbar.
