How can I keep a white line from showing in a table?

When I shade a cell in Word 2000, sometimes a white line appears on the
bottom that I cannot get rid of.
 
When you're in the Format > Borders & Shading dialog, make sure the
"Apply to" dropdown is set to Cell, not to Paragraph.
