How can I insert current date into Word table cell?

In Access and Excell, one can use the "Ctrl;" or "Ctrl Shift ;" to insert the
current date and time into a field. how can I do the same in an MS Word table?

Alt+Shift+D is the keyboard shortcut in Word. The field inserted will be
whatever has been selected as the default in the Insert | Date and Time
dialog.
