How can I import my calendar .CSV file into Outlook 2003?

I've tried using the import/export wizard, selected 'from another program or
file' and then selected the "Comma Separated Values (Windows)" and then found
the file. When I click to import it I get the error message:-

"A File Error has occured in the comma separated values (windows) translator
while initializing a translator to buid a field map.

Outlook was unable to retrieve the data from <FilePath>. Verify you have
the correct file, that you have permission to open it, and that it is not
open in another program."

I have checked that I have the correct file (I do) and that I have
permission to open it (I do) and that it isn't open in another program (it
isn't). The file itself is not corrupted, and I can open it in Excel okay.
Anyone got any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks

I'd say field mapping can't recognise the file you are trying to import.
Export from a new blank folder or a folder with a test entry or two in
Outlook of the same item type in CSV format and use that as a template. copy
your data into the correct fields and then import. Import into a new folder
so you can check the results before you copy them to main folder for that
type of item.
If your CSV file is recognised by Outlook you might only need to map the
fields using "map custom fields" without doing the above. I prefer the
template approach.

Thanks for your reply, but this didn't solve the problem. I cannot seem to
import any file once I have exported it - I just get the same error message
each time (see below). Any further ideas?

if you export a CSV and import he same file do you get the error message?
Are the correct converters installed?

Okay, I just tried exporting and then importing the test calendar back into
an empty folder (as previously suggested) and this time it worked fine
(wierd). However, when I try to import my father's calendar (with his
essential travel itinary) I manage to find the file okay, but when I confirm
where to place the data (before the final window) I get the previously
mentioned error message. I assume all the correct converters are installed
as the test now works, and the first time I tried Outlook installed some
converters. So I still cannot import the important data, only the test data.
I guess therefore its a problem with that file - could it be a different
version of Outlook that is causing the problem (I'm not sure which Outlook
version the data is being exported from)?

Thanks for the help
