How can I import hyperlinks with "representative text" in a mail m

I hope this is the right place to post this....

I'm trying to set up a mail merge from Excel to Word to Outlook (all are
Office 2003 - upgrade) for a newsletter service our company provides to
subscribers. I've found out that I can just type the url in the appropriate
field on the Excel spreadsheet, but I want to send links with "representative
text" to each person rather than a url. In other words, I'd like to send
"Auto News" as a link to
http://www.mydomain.com/newsletters/todaysnews/california/auto.htm rather
than this big, long, ugly url.

If this is at all clear, I'll be impressed. Thanks in advance for any advice.

G"Day Mustang,

In Excel, type "Auto News" into a cell, select the cell and,
from the Menu, Insert>Hyperlink. Leave text to display as
"Auto News" and set the Target URL.

This will allow the user to see "Auto News" and, when clicked,
to go to the Target URL.

It should survive the MailMerge - but I have not tested it.

Pat,

Thanks for the reply. Sorry for the delay in response. Been out of town.
Your suggestion is exactly what I have done, but the hyperlink does not
survive the merge into Word. Any other ideas?

Thanks.

Pat,

I just copied my Excel file into a Word file and used the Word file as my
database. The hyperlinks WITH "representative text" work fine in Word and
also work fine in Outlook.

This is a great workaround for the problem I was having. It only takes one
extra step (copy and paste the spreadsheet into Word). Thanks again for your
help.
