how can i get the research and look up words service for office?

I updated office from 2003 to xp, but i can't get the research option. The
research option is not listed in the tools tab nor is lookup listed in the
shortcut list when i right click. Any idea how i can get this service running?

2003 to XP is not an upgrade. The Research pane was introduced in Word 2003;
it was not available in Word 2002 (Office XP).
