How can I get a 'ticker' effect in a PPT presentation?

I'd like to have a long string of text move across the screen in much the
same way as a ticker works with the latest news or stock prices. I have tried
adding in a text box and stretching it so that its many times wider than the
screen. I then added in some custom animation (Entrance: Crawl In) but I
can't get it to slow down to the required speed (Very Slow is still way too
fast). I also tried splitting the text into sections and having each section
follow the previous one with a Timing delay. However, this didn't work as it
just assumes the complete line of text is one element. Does anyone have any
ideas how this type of effect can be achieved? I'd appreciate any ideas......

Many thanks....
