How can I fix typing bug that deletes the next letter in Outlook 2

Sometimes, when I am trying to correct a typing error in an e-mail message in
Outlook 2003, the letter that I am typing in deletes the letter or space in
front of it. It makes correcting a very laborious process. How can I fix this
bug?

G'Day Brewster,
"Sometimes .......letter or space in front of it."
IF
you really mean letter or space AFTER it (to the right of it)
AND
You use Word as your e-mail editor
THEN ...

You are somehow switching Word into "overstrike" mode.

The Insert key switches Word between Insert mode and
Overstrike mode.

Insert mode you are familiar with.

Overstrike REPLACES characters as you type (press the
Insert key to go back to Insert mode).

In the Word status bar there is an "OVR" that is usually
grayed out. In Overstrike mode it is black.
