How can I disable the US Dictionary?

I have my language and dictionary to English (Canada). Yet I have to keep
re-setting it as it constantly switches back to English (US).

This seems to constantly happen when I am receiving a reply from someone who
has English (US) set as their default.

How can I delete English (US) from being an option?

You can't. What you need to do is set the language option not to
automatically detect the language (tools > language > set language).
Language is however text dependent so if it was formatted as Canadian it
will stay that way for that document until you change it.

Hi Graham:

Thanks for the reply! One missing part in my question was that I was using
Word as the editor for Outlook.

I would create an e-mail in "Canadian" and send to a friend and receive
their reply. When I attempted to reply to their message, MY language always
seems to be changed back to "American".

Is there anyway to keep things "Canadian"?

Thanks again,

Rob

Word, by default, uses the language configured in Windows regional settings.
If you wish to override this, one simple method would be to set up paragraph
styles for use in your Canadian mails to set the proofing language of the
text they are applied to.
Personally I send all e-mails in plain text, use the Outlook editor, and
have Outlook set to display only the text content of received e-mail
messages, so the problem of language doesn't really arise.

Hi Graham: Thanks for the answers.

My regional setting is English (Canada) and yet Word keeps switching back to
English (US) regardless. A little frustrating.

Yesterday I went back to using the Outlook editor for my e-mails. This has
resolved the problems. I'll stick with it.

Thanks again for your help!
